We play in the sports hall at Dagenham Park Leisure Centre, School Road, Dagenham, RM10 9QH. The venue is within easy reach of Gidea Park, Romford, Rush Green, Hornchurch, Upminster, Rainham, Becontree and Chadwell Heath.
Hunters started out life as Dagenite Badminton Club and was founded by Bill Sheff in 1958 with assistance from Jimmy Waite with funding from Dagenite Battery Company Sports Club. The club played at Hunters Hall School in Dagenahm, Essex.
In 1979 following the withdrawl of support from Dagenite Battery Company the name was changed to Hunters Hall Badminton Club.
In 1996 the club moved to Wood Lane Sports Centre, Wood Lane, Dagenham, Essex, RM8 1JX and was renamed Hunters Badminton Club.
The Club Secretary, Bill Sheff has been supported by Jean Sheff in her role as treasurer during this period.
In September 2006 both Bill and Jean retired from official duties of running the club, handing over the roles of Secretary to Mike Smith and Treasurer to Vicki Fowler, James Wilson and then Kellie Stevenson.
The club is affiliated to the local Barking, Dagenham and District Badminton League and between October 2010 to May 2015 ( mens doubles ) and October 2011 to May 2015 ( ladies doubles ) also competed in the Essex County League.
With the closure of Wood Lane Sports Centre in April 2011, the club enter a new era by relocating to the newly built Becontree Heath Leisure Centre
In June 2015, to help ensure the club stayed financially viable, the club was once again on the move and so relocated to the newly built Dagenham Park Leisure Centre.
This change of location marked a significant change to the club committee and membership with some long-standing members deciding that either the new venue was just out of reach for travel or to take the opportunity to have a time-out from badminton.
With this, Lisa McEwen steps forward to take over as club treasurer and formed a new committee to help ensure the club's survival and to take the club forward into this new era.
